Safeguarding & Online Safety
New Ballagh Centre is committed to a respectful online environment, particularly where services involve older people, people who may be vulnerable, carers or families. This page gives practical online-safety guidance; it does not invent or replace formal internal safeguarding procedures.
This website and its reporting form are not an emergency service. If someone is in immediate danger or urgent help is needed in Ireland, call 112 or 999.
Stay safe online
- Never share a password, one-time authentication code or unnecessary financial information.
- Be cautious with urgent requests, suspicious payment links, unexpected private contact or pressure to keep a conversation secret.
- Do not share another person’s address, health information, images or contact details without permission.
- Use safe public meeting and collection arrangements and tell someone you trust.
- Block contact where available, keep relevant messages or screenshots, and report concerns promptly.
What to report
Report inappropriate or unwanted contact, harassment, threats, exploitation, scams, suspicious accounts, grooming or coercive behaviour, unsafe marketplace conduct, exposure of personal information, or anything that makes you concerned for a person’s welfare.
How concerns are handled
Reports are private from ordinary users and available only to authorised administrators under the Firestore rules. An administrator may review relevant account, content or message information where reasonably necessary, contact the reporter for detail, restrict content or accounts, preserve evidence, or escalate to an appropriate service or authority where law or safety requires it. We cannot promise confidentiality where disclosure is necessary to protect someone or comply with law.
